REGULATIONS

Article 1. Course

Biot Running is organizing a footrace called “Les Foulées Biotoises” on the evening of Saturday, July 19, 2025. This sporting event includes two corrida-style courses that take place in the village of Biot and its surroundings:

  • A course of approximately 8 km with an elevation gain/loss of around 200 meters, open to FFA (French Athletics Federation) Cadet category and above.
  • A course of approximately 12 km with an elevation gain/loss of around 300 meters, also open to the Cadet category and above.

Both licensed and non-licensed runners commit to completing the course in compliance with the Highway Code, and must follow the instructions of race officials, marshals, and police services. The organizers reserve the right to resolve any disputes in accordance with these rules.

The number of participants is limited to 500 runners.

Article 2. Insurance and Participation

The organizers are covered by an insurance policy. FFA license holders benefit from the personal accident insurance linked to their license. Non-license holders must ensure they have their own coverage. The organizers disclaim all responsibility in the event of theft, health incidents (immediate or delayed), or physical failure due to poor health. It is recommended that participants purchase personal accident insurance.

Race officials may stop any participant who appears to be in poor physical condition.

Each participant must provide, upon registration, their PPS (Health Prevention Pathway), accessible at: https://pps.athle.fr, valid on race day OR a copy of one of the following valid licenses:

  • Athlé Compétition
  • Athlé Entreprise
  • Athlé Running issued by the FFA

⚠️ Other FFA licenses (Santé, Encadrement, Découverte) are not accepted.

To be valid, the PPS must have been completed within 3 months of the event date. Access it here: https://pps.athle.fr.

Foreign participants must also complete and submit a PPS done within 3 months of the event. Several languages are available on the site.

Minors must provide parental authorization in addition to the PPS. Participation for minors is subject to submission of this authorization during registration.


Article 3. Registration

Registrations are online only via the event website: https://lesfouleesbiotoises.fr/ until Friday, July 18, 2025.

Entry fees:

  • €14 for the short format
  • €19 for the long format

⚠️ Starting July 1, 2025, entry fees increase to:

  • €19 for the short format
  • €24 for the long format

Article 4. Postponement / Cancellation

The organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event in the case of force majeure (e.g., government ban, local authority ban, severe weather alert, landslide risk, or any threat to the physical safety of participants, spectators, or organizers). No registration fees will be refunded in the event of cancellation, postponement, or race modifications.


Article 5. Changing Rooms

Unsupervised changing rooms (under the user’s responsibility), with showers and toilets, will be available at the Pierre Operto Sports Complex.


Article 6. Bibs

Bibs can be collected on race day from 6:00 PM at the starting area.

Bibs must be worn in full and not folded — failure to comply will result in disqualification.


Article 7. Start / Finish

Start and finish will take place at the Pierre Operto Sports Complex in Biot:

  • 12 km course starts at 7:15 PM, with first arrivals expected around 8:00 PM
  • 8 km course starts at 7:30 PM, with first arrivals expected around 8:00 PM

The race will close at 8:45 PM.


Article 8. Aid Stations

There will be two liquid aid stations on each course. One additional aid station will be available at the finish line.

Runners must bring their own reusable cup.


Article 9. Checkpoints

Checkpoints will be set up along the route. Runners who are not recorded at these checkpoints will not be classified.


Article 10. Mandatory Equipment

  • One soft cup for liquid aid stations
  • Due to the heat, participants are strongly advised to carry light hydration: a 0.5L water bottle and some energy bars.

Article 11. Awards / Podiums

The top 3 men and top 3 women in each race will receive awards.


Article 12. Results

A general and age-category ranking will be published on the event’s website.


Article 13. Eco-Responsibility

No plastic cups allowed.


Article 14. Safety and Emergency

The event will be supervised by Biot Running and the local emergency services.

On public roads, each participant must comply with the traffic laws and is solely responsible for any violations. Marshals will be present and can alert emergency services if needed. They have the authority to withdraw any participant deemed unfit or who endangers themselves or others.

In case of withdrawal, the runner must notify race officials and return their bib at the nearest checkpoint. They will be removed from the race and may leave by their own means and at their own risk, though the organizers may assist with transport back to the finish area.

Traffic control will be handled by event marshals. The organizer reserves the right to modify the course or start times depending on weather conditions, or to stop the race and direct runners back.


Article 15: Image Rights and Data Protection

All participants expressly waive the right to their image during the event and any claims against the organizers for use of said image.

The information you provide is necessary for your registration in Les Foulées Biotoises. It will be digitally processed and managed by the Biot Running association’s secretariat. According to Article 34 of Law 78-17 of January 6, 1978, you have the right to access and correct any personal information held about you. To do so, contact the organizers.


Article 16. Disqualification

Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any runner who violates the spirit of the event:

  • Missed checkpoint
  • Cheating (e.g., hidden bib or not displaying bib number)
  • Ignoring course markings or taking shortcuts
  • Failing to follow traffic laws on public roads
  • Using any means of transportation
  • Not helping a fellow runner in distress
  • Insults, rudeness, or threats towards any staff or volunteer
  • Doping or refusal of anti-doping control

Article 17. Timing

Timing will be managed by a professional company. Each runner will be given an electronic chip, which must be returned to the organizers, even in the event of withdrawal.


Article 18. Acceptance of Rules

By registering, each participant acknowledges that they have read and fully accept these rules. They also agree to:

  • Immediately inform the organizers of any health issues
  • Release the organizers, their partners, and the landowners from any liability for damage, loss, injury (including fatal), whether to themselves or their property, regardless of the cause (subject to applicable law)

Each runner commits on their honor not to start early and to complete the full course before crossing the finish line.
